Tourist Visa

The tourist visa can be requested by those foreign citizens who wish to travel to Argentina, with the purpose of rest or leisure only.

Please note that a tourist visa does not allow you to carry out in Argentina:

  • Work activities.
  • Market studies.
  • Attending trade fairs or congresses.
  • Study at educational institutions.
  • Professional activities, paid or unpaid.
  • Medical treatments of any kind.
  • Birth tourism: travel for the primary purpose of giving birth in Argentina to obtain Argentine citizenship for their child.
  • Activities other to rest or leisure.

In case you intend to carry out any of the activities detailed above, you must apply for the corresponding visa.

 

Cost:

  • The visa processing fee for the tourist visa has a cost of $ 150 and must be paid at the time of submission of the preliminary documentation.
  • The payment of the consular fee for a visa is for the processing and assessing the visa application, but it does NOT GUARANTEE THE VISA ISSUANCE. In case of denial of the visa, or the withdrawal of your application, no sum will be refunded.
  • The fee for processing the visa application must be paid at the branch of the Bank ABB. To this end, once confirmed that the application contains all the preliminary documents, you will be provided with a deposit slip to make the payment in the bank branch. It shall be the responsibility of the visa applicant to bring back to the Consular Section the deposit slip stamped by the bank.

 

Documentation:

  1. Visa application form.
    • Download Visa Application Form (access the form in English Language in the file attached at the bottom of this website).
    • It is the responsibility of the visa applicant to ensure that all the information on the visa application form is complete and accurate.
    • The visa application is an affidavit. The falsehood and/or omission of information may result in denial of the visa and will be subject to the penalties set forth in the legislation of Argentina.
  2. 4x4 photo of the visa applicant, from the front, without glasses, with a white background and the whole face visible.
  3. Copy of passport of the visa applicant.
  4. Documentation of the itinerary:
    1. All flight reservations corresponding to international flights (round-trip reservation). Should the applicant visit other countries in addition to Argentina during the same trip, the corresponding flight reservations shall be also submitted.
    2. Bookings of flight tickets corresponding to domestic flights within Argentina.
    3. Accommodation bookings for the entire period of stay in Argentina. Alternatives:
      1. Hotel reservations: must be made in name of the visa applicant for the entire period of stay and must be paid or guaranteed with a credit card.
      2. In case of staying under the invitation of a citizen or resident of Argentina, it will be required an invitation letter to be issued through the TAD system in accordance with the following instructions: Instructions for Invitation Letters (Spanish Language)
  5. Certificate of employment issued by employer. It must detail the following information: (i) date of commencement of employment; (ii) the position of the visa applicant; (iii) tasks performed by the visa applicant; (iv) employer’s contact details: landline telephone, mobile phone, and email; (v) specify that the certificate is extended to be presented to the Embassy of the Argentine Republic to apply for tourist visa.
  6. Certificate of employment issued through the Egov Platflorm.
  7. Bank reference.
  8. Bank statement. It must detail the visa applicant’s transactions for the last 2 (two) years at least.
  9. Health insurance for the entire period of stay in Argentina.
  10. For travelers under the age of 18.
    1. Birth certificate legalized and apostilled, with a translation into Spanish.
    2. Authorization of both parents for the visa application process. It must be signed in person at the Consular Section.
    3. In the event that only one parent appears with a power of attorney granted by the other, it will be required a legalized and apostilled copy of the power of attorney, with a translation into Spanish.

 

General considerations concerning the tourist visa application.

  • The payment of the consular fee for a visa is for the processing and assessing the visa application, but IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE VISA ISSUANCE.
  • Within the visa application procedure, the consular authority may require the submission of additional documents.
  • In case of denial of the visa or withdrawal from the application, no sum will be refunded.
  • The minimum period for applying for a visa is 45 days before the date of travel. The consular interview must be held at least one month before the date of travel. It is the responsibility of the visa applicant to duly submit all the documents required by the consular authority in order to meet the deadlines.
  • All stages of the visa application procedure are personal and face-to-face.
