The Argentine Film Festival will be held from October 24 to 29 at Landmark Cine Club.

 

Movies will be shown in Spanish language with subtitles into English.

Argentine Film Festival Schedule

 

Day 1 – The heist of the century

• October 24 – 19:00 hours

• Synopsis: In 2006, a group of thieves performed what is considered one of the most famous and smart bank heists in the history of Argentina when they rob the Banco Río branch in Acassuso.

• Year: 2020

• Director: Ariel Winograd

• Stars: Guillermo Francella, Diego Peretti, Luis Luque.

 

Day 2 - Nine queens

• October 25 – 19:00 hours

• Synopsis: Two con artists try to swindle a stamp collector by selling him a sheet of counterfeit rare stamps (the "nine queens").

• Year: 2000.

• Director: Fabián Bielinsky

• Stars: Ricardo Darín, Gastón Pauls, Leticia Bredice.

 

Day 3 - On probation

• October 26 – 16:00 hours

• Synopsis: MarianoiIs a psychologist who must fulfill community service after losing a lawsuit by a traffic accident. He is forced to provide therapeutic support to Alfredo, a policeman depressed over his wife cheating on him. Mariano is then accidentally involved in a double homicide investigation being conducted by Alfredo.

Day 4 - Waiting for the hearse

• October 27 – 16:00 hours

• Synopsis: in this classic of Argentine film industry, confusion spreads in a family after Mom Cora, an 80 years old grandmother, disappears. Though a few believe she has died, nothing is as easy as it seems.

• Year: 1985.

• Director: Alejandro Doria.

• Stars: China Zorrilla, Antonio Gasalla, Luis Brandoni.

 

Day 5 - Thw waesel's tale.

• October 28 – 19:00 hours.

• Synopsis: Four aged motion-picture veterans, who share a country estate, are visited by two underhanded real-estate developers who seek to make them homeless. But, though they are old, they still have their storytelling skills intact.

• Year: 2019.

• Director: Juan José Campanella.

• Stars: Graciela Borges, Oscar Martínez, Luis Brandoni, Marcos Mundstock, Clara Lago, Nicolás Francella

 

Day 6 - My first wedding

• October 29 – 19:00 hours

• Synopsis: Jewish-born Adrián and Catholic-born Leonora have finally reached their wedding day. Instead of gracefully embracing matrimony, Adrián spends the hours leading up to the ceremony trying to postpone it because he's clumsily lost both his and his bride-to-be's sacred wedding rings.
